Role Overview
Coupang’s corporate investigation team is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to fraud, misconduct, policy violations, and other unethical behavior within Coupang and its affiliates. Investigation team conducts thorough investigations into allegations reported through various ethics channels. The Investigation Project Management Office (PMO) supports investigators by ensuring that all reported ethics cases are processed efficiently in accordance with Coupang’s Investigation Policy. The PMO acts as a centralized hub for case management, providing support in intake, triage, system administration, reporting, and quality assurance.
We are seeking a talented professional to join our team as Principal, Global Investigations team. Your primary responsibility will be managing the intake, assessment, and allocation of cases reported through Coupang’s ethics channel, ethics.coupang.com. You will ensure that these cases are processed efficiently, investigative resources are allocated effectively, and case management adheres to Coupang's Global Investigation Policy and regulatory requirements.
In addition, this role will support global and cross-border investigations, requiring strong English communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders across different regions, cultures, and functions.
What You Will Do
1. Ethics Report Intake & Preliminary Review
l Serve as the first point of contact for ethics reports, ensuring timely. Accurate and consistent case intake
l Conduct initial case triage by assessing severity, risk, and priority level
l Create and register cases within Coupang’s Ethics Case Management System
l Review and evaluate reported concerns to determine investigative scope and requirements
2. Case Management
l Ensure all reports are properly documented, categorized and maintained within Ethics Case Management systems
l Monitor active investigations, track progress and drive timely resolution.
l Identify opportunities to enhance case handling efficiency and optimize investigative resource allocation
l Serve as system administrator, managing basic configuration, access control, and user permissions
l Troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to implement enhancements and ensure data security
3. Investigation Data Analytics
l Develop and maintain key metrics and dashboards to monitor case volume, trends, and resolution timelines
l Generate analytical reports to support investigative decision-making and leadership insights
l Prepare executive-level presentations summarizing investigation outcomes, trends, and risk areas
4. Monitoring & Quality Assurance
l Conduct periodic review of Ethics Case Management System to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and policy adherence
l Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with Coupang’s Global Investigation Policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
l Identify process gaps or inconsistencies and recommend actionable improvements.
5. Conduct Global and Cross-Border Investigations
l Independently support and conduct investigations involving employees, stakeholders, and matters across multiple countries and regions, as assigned
l Lead or contribute to end-to-end investigative activities, including planning, interviews, evidence collection, analysis, and reporting
l Conduct investigations in English and communicate effectively with global stakeholders across interviews, documentation, and case management activities
l Demonstrate sound judgment in assessing facts, credibility, and risk in complex, sensitive, or cross-cultural matters
l Navigate cultural and jurisdictional considerations while ensuring fairness, consistency, objectivity, and compliance with Coupang's Global Investigation Policy and applicable laws and regulations
Qualifications & Skills:
l Bachelor’s degree in business, criminal Justice, law, compliance, or a related field.
l 8+ years of experience in investigations, compliance, risk management, or project management.
l Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess and prioritize cases effectively.
l Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
l Experience with case management systems and data analysis tools is a plus.
l High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
l Professional proficiency in English
Preferred Qualifications:
l Experience working in corporate investigations, ethics & compliance, or security teams.
l Familiarity with whistleblower programs, fraud investigations, or regulatory reporting.
l Experience with PowerBI for data analysis and reporting.
l Professional certifications relevant to investigations, auditing, or compliance (e.g., CFE, CISA, or CIA) are an advantage.
l A law degree and/or admission to practice law is an advantage.
Document Return Policy
This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act.
A job applicant, who has applied but not been finally selected for a position at Coupang (the “Company”), may request the Company to return his/her hiring documents submitted pursuant to the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. In addition, if the hiring documents were destroyed due to a natural disaster or any other reasons not attributable to the Company, such documents will be deemed to have been returned to the job applicant.
A job applicant who wishes to request the return of his/her hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above should fill out a “Request for Return of Hiring Documents” [Annex Form No. 3 in the Enforcement Rule of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act] and submit It by email (recruitingops@coupang.com). In such case, within fourteen (14) days from the date of identifying the receipt of the request, the Company will send the hiring documents to the job applicant’s designated address via registered mail. Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail.
In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
The above paragraphs 1 - 4 shall only apply when the labor-related laws of Korea govern the application. They are otherwise not applicable.
